Our annual skin's game, once again provided plenty of fireworks with 2 net Ace's! Saving his best for last, Sweeney dropped a timely bomb on #18 for a net skin. The moment just happen to be caught on Erik's phone. :)

Tim Bell builds a sand tee courtesy of dirt from a nearby gopher mound and impresses all on the 1st tee! :o

Next year's fireworks will come in the form of our match play finalists battling it out on a 3rd day of elimination match play at Del Monte. Set for May 4th - 6th, the change in venue will be a blast and look forward to teeing it up at Old D again!

notes

The NorCal Hickory group returns to Old Del Monte for our 4th annual Monterey Hickory Classic this fall and invites all to join the yearly celebration.

Image

Designed by Charles Maud in 1897 and touted as being the oldest course west of the Mississippi in continuous operation, the old course is a breeze to walk, flat, with tees only a few steps away from previous green as would be expected with a course built over 100 years ago. While the short course certainly appears easy on paper, Old D is well protected with fast contoured greens and plenty of greenside sand.
